MONTHLY HISTORY TALKS
The Society hosts history talks on the second Monday evening of each month. A programme of excellent speakers is in place for 2022. Venue: St. Matthews Church, Stirling Square Guildford. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. After the presentation, mingle, enjoy a light supper and get to know us better.
ANNUAL EVENTS
AUSTRALIAN HERITAGE FESTIVAL April – May
Each year we participate in the Australian Heritage Festival held in April / May, hosted by the National Trust. Tours and events are organised around the annual theme chosen by the National Trust. Events may include walking tours, exploring the early days of convict involvement in Guildford, or behind the scenes tours of our headquarters.
ANZAC DAY 25th April
Join us at the war memorial in Stirling Square Guildford for an ANZAC Day service commencing at 9am. After the ANZAC Day ceremony, come to the St. Matthews Anglican Church Hall for a cup of tea and an ANZAC biscuit.
WESTERN AUSTRALIA DAY First Monday in June
In 2022, Western Australia Day was celebrated on Monday 6th June. After a flag raising ceremony, guest speaker Dr. Shane Burke spoke about the first year of settlement in the Swan River region.
Following formal proceedings, we adjourned to the Mechanics Institute hall in Meadow Street Guildford for morning tea.
