Explore the WA Police Gazette records for Guildford

The Swan Guildford Historical Society is pleased to announce that it now has an extract from the WA Police Gazettes 1876 – 1900 for the Guildford area on its website with an index of names and places.   This has been extracted and indexed by Ken Ross.  The Society is very grateful to Ken for his work.

The Police Gazettes were created as internal documents that circulated information about Police activities around Western Australia on a weekly basis.  As they contain information about individuals they were not made public for 50 years.

Reading through the Gazettes we get an idea of the business that the Police and Courts got involved with including crimes, warrants, inquests and licences. This helps to shed light on what life was like in Guildford during the later years of the 19th century.  In addition, it is hugely valuable to those researching their family history who are able to search by name.

The Gazettes can be found on the Society’s website under People and Places on the menu.
