We warmly welcome members and friends to join us at regular events held throughout the year.   Events are advertised on Facebook one week beforehand.

MONTHLY HISTORY TALKS

The Society hosts history talks on the second Monday evening of each month.  A programme of excellent speakers is planned for 2021.   Venue:  Guildford Town Hall, corner James and Meadow Streets. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.   After the presentation, mingle, enjoy a light supper and get to know us better.

ANNUAL EVENTS

AUSTRALIAN HERITAGE FESTIVAL April – May 

Each year we participate in the Australian Heritage Festival held in April / May, hosted by the National Trust.  Tours and events are organised around the annual theme chosen by the National Trust.  In 2021 the Society is presenting a series of walking tours, exploring the early days of convict involvement in Guildford.  Hear some stories of those who helped shape Guildford and surrounding areas.

Dates:  24th April, 27th April, 30th April, 6th May, 11th May, 14th May and 19th May.

Time:  10.30am to 12 noon.  Maximum of 10 persons per tour.

Cost: 15 per adult, children free.

ANZAC DAY  25th April

Join us at the war memorial in Stirling Square Guildford for an ANZAC Day service commencing at 9am.  After the ANZAC Day ceremony, come to the Mechanics Institute Hall for a cup of tea and an ANZAC biscuit.

 

WESTERN AUSTRALIA DAY  First Monday in June

Celebrate Western Australia Day with a flag raising ceremony commencing at 10am.  A guest speaker will talk on what makes Western Australia special to them.  Location:  Grassed area behind the Colonial Gaol in Meadow Street.  After the ceremony join us for morning tea in the Mechanics Institute Hall.
